Curatorial Note
CONVERING BOUNDERINGS
#SeeAndHearDifferently
Under the concept of Converging Boundaries, CINETORO 2026 proposes a curatorial framework inspired by the force of tectonic collision. Just as, in geology, a convergent boundary is the space where two plates collide to destroy the old and raise new mountain ranges and volcanoes, this edition seeks films in which the impact between languages generates new ways of seeing and hearing. We move away from the static reading of maps — those arbitrary divisions of dots and lines — to focus instead on the energy that emerges within the zone of contact, where the friction between the human and the non-human, or between the here and the elsewhere, constructs new narrative geographies.
CINETORO 2026 calls for works that explore processes of collision and emergence. We seek films that use experimentation as a tool to blur political and social boundaries, proposing perspectives that recognize the continuity of the jungle or the vastness of the desert beyond geographical limits. How does perception transform when cinematic form itself becomes the result of a clash of forces?

CINETORO
We are artists, educators, and researchers, lovers and practitioners of the visual and audiovisual arts, with a focus on extended and experimental practices.
Our festival is a space for encounters with thought free of constraints, free of censorship. It is a space for approaching artistic creation in freedom. A festival-school, a laboratory for learning, for sharing knowledge, and for building and practicing the arts and free thought.
“Here, we see differently” because we stand for diversity in forms, in language, and in culture.
TORO, VALLE
Toro, Colombia, is located in the southwest of the country, in the foothills of the Andes, along the banks of the Cauca River. It is a landscape of enigmatic beauty: lush green, with enormous saman trees, ringed by mountains, and swept by a strong breeze from the Pacific.
