Dreaming a serpent

Maria Carolina Ardila, Liliana Patricia Correa

2025

Medellín

14:00:00

A young taxidermist who has grown up surrounded by fossils and museum displays comes across a photograph that changes everything: in it, her mother—still young—holds the gaze of a snake with an intensity that borders on the ritual. From that moment on, reptiles begin to infiltrate her life in ways she cannot explain. First as an obsession, then as an inevitable presence that permeates her work, her body, her desire. There is something primal and voracious in that attraction—a force that drives her to entwine the figure of the snake with motherhood in a single vital impulse. Her personal story, her lineage, and the enigma of the ophidian become tangled in a spiral of instincts, revelations, and transformations that pull her toward a territory beyond the human.

A trail of sliiime announces the rain (national premiere)

Mariana Moyano

2025

Cali

10:47:00

In this jungle, a trail of slime announces the rain. It is the footprint of a snail that does not know it is a snail, or that knows, but in any case does not want to be one.

This animation is a visual poem. In it, a snail lives the metaphor of the threshold it must cross to incarnate its own place in the world. It is innocent and does not know that it is a victim of its fantasies, and the frustration it feels with its own nature leads it to want to play with the blurry shadows of the large and dangerous animals of the jungle, leaving all its vulnerability spilled behind it.

Ma-quina [quinine machine]

Sebastián Wiedemann

2024

Medellín

08:15:00

Colonial ghosts do not stop h(a)unting and devouring vegetalities. For centuries they have made the world work for the sake of a single world/ing, while others are ab/used and annihilated. The quinine pharmacy is an example of the strength of their machinery. Fever of conquest contrasted to a feverish state and a trance of perception; feverish images contrasting a world that burns, a quinine machine. Archival malaria, the quinine in constant variation, the plant in constant differentiation, the Bora and Uitoto conjuring, the cosmos reclaiming. Ma-quina.

Among Whispers and Stones

Carolina Acevedo

2025

Bogotá

05:15:00

This animation explores the body as a place of transition between internal and external, visible and shadow. Through minimal gestures and fading lines, it weaves a wordless narrative where the body dissolves and reintegrates with earth, water, and memory. The inner voice becomes echo, root, and breath, unfolding like a ritual, an endless becoming.

This is not your Garden

Angélica Restrepo, Carlos Velandia

2025

Bogotá

12:53:00

Rooted in wetlands, páramos and centennial forests at the verge of disappearing, memories and a speculated future collide. A temporal journey in the highlands of Bogota, Colombia, which follows the last 500 years of exploitation, exile and resilience of the flora that has historically inhabited this territory. Beginning in the pre-Columbian period of equilibrium between flora and other beings, this anti-anthropocentric report narrates in an expressive and abstract way the effects of colonial deforestation, the drying up of the land, the industrial flattening and the slow cracking of the contemporary city by the flora that has survived.

Relatives of the Luminous Valley

Pasto

17:31:00

In the heart of the Andes of Nariño, the old textile factory in El Contadero lies in ruins. Through the memories of Estela, a woman who worked there in her youth, we glimpse the factory’s early days, her camaraderie with colleagues, and her apprenticeship in traditional guanga weaving. The film revisits the remnants of this failed modernization attempt, as well as the fragile survival of this craft.

AtmoSphaira

Sandra Rengifo

2024

Bogotá

12:00:00

Unprotected by an atmosphere, life ceases. This thin gaseous varnish, a compound of ἀτμός (vapor or air) and σφαῖρα (sphere), allows us to exist as we float in infinity. This is from where this film departs with the recorded chant of the last surviving – and now extinct – Hawaiian Kauaʻi ʻōʻō bird.

AtmoSphaira is subdivided into epistolary chapters, into travel logs or letters of confrontation with human and non-human nature. Each segment weaves the sonorous and visual warp of two cyclops, who, from their spherical point of view, grant us – sometimes abstractly, others frontally and very often silhouettedly – a glance into their worlds. From the Andean moors to the Mediterranean Sea, this film guides us with photosensitive textures and superimposed layers through a multiverse evoking a nostalgia of better days, extinction of and within bodies, the ampliation of our conception of events in space and time, and physical as well as immaterial memory. The subjects of this piece are insignificant controllers, facing a finite flow in their expiring bodies, excreting crunchy, perfect images… megapixels that show nothing.

AtmoSphaira invites us to traverse this landscape, confronting us with our vital myopia: We are screen cyclops. It invokes the contradiction in our bodies – ephemeral and on the borderline between the analog and the digital –, overcoming the visible and wrapping us in the sensitive. Here, we become a nebula, a flash of light fertilizing the experience of a tremulous reality, revealing the sacredness of tangible impurity – and confirming that it is truly human to err.
